As of right now, there are no changes to the myWW green plan for 2021. However, with the changes to myWW in 2020, there are so many questions about the new plans, how to choose what is right for you and of course, what kind of meals you can eat on each plan. For this post, we're going to discuss the weight watchers Green Plan, as it is the one I chose.
What is the myWW Green Plan?
The myWW Green Plan for 2020 is based on SmartPoints with 100+ Zero Point fruits and vegetables plus weekly smartpoints and rollovers. This plan is a bit more restrictive than the previous WW Freestyle plan but it also holds me more accountable which is necessary.
How do I choose which myWW Plan is right for me?
The great thing about MyWW is that when you join, you are given a free assessment to help match you with your perfect plan. However, that is only offered to new members when they first download the app. I did find this great printable version of the myWW assessment if you want to double-check your choices.
Personally, I have Type II Diabetes, which means I need to watch my intake of carbs and even natural sugars. This elevated need for tracking can cause issues with having an expanded list of foods to choose from. That's why I chose the weight watchers Green plan. I acknowledge that I need more boundaries than freestyle provides.

The myWW Blue plan is the same as the Freestyle plan that has been in place for the past year while the myWW Purple Plan is an expanded freestyle plan based on the previous plan called "Simply Filling".

Remember
EVERY PERSON IS UNIQUE.
The beauty in having your choice of plans is there is a plan that will work for everyone as long as you are honest about your level of self-control.
How does the Green Plan work?
The Green plan is based on SmartPoints which are calculated by calories, saturated fat, protein and sugar. To learn more in-depth information about the Green Plan, I highly recommend reading Smiley's Points post on the myWeight Watchers Green Plan. He also includes the zero point food list and a printable guide!
What Does A Day in the Life on the myWW Green Plan Look Like?
The best way to get started on the WW Green plan is to plan your day accordingly and learn how to balance your lower list of zero point foods with a minimum of 30 points per day.

Robbie at FrekiFitWolf on Youtube has been testing out the myWW Green Plan! He created a nifty little video about the 5 habits he uses to lose weight as he follows the Green Plan.
- Tracking
- Focus on Eating
- Smaller Bowls/Plates
- Slow Down
- Portion Control
I loved his personality and the way he breaks down these habits so much that I included his video below for you to watch!
Start Your Day With Water
This may sound like an obvious statement, but you need to drink water. The first thing you should do after waking up in the morning is to drink 16 oz of water. Your body is mostly water and after a long rest, you need to rehydrate!

Drinking water encourages your body to release toxins, aiding in digestion and boosting your metabolism. Adda Bjarnadottir, MS wrote this article for Healthline discussing how drinking water can also lower how many calories you consume during the day which helps you lose weight!
Breakfast
When it comes to breakfast time, you want to find a meal that is rich in fiber and high in protein. Choosing a meal meant to fill you up and give you the energy you need to get through your day.
Everything Bagel Avocado Spread
Make this Everything Bagel Avocado Spread in advance to make a quick and easy myWW friendly breakfast spread at only 2 points per serving!
Ingredients
- 4 Ripe Avocados
- 4 tbsp Everything Bagel Seasoning
- 2 tsp lime juice
Instructions
- Start by combining all the ingredients in a bowl
- Portion out into a mini muffin silicone pan (see recommendation below)
- Freeze until solid, 2-3 hours, then you can remove and place into a bag or air sealed container until you are ready to serve!
Notes
Feel free to use your favorite version of Everything Bagel Seasoning, I prefer to use a no salt variety so I can control the sodium in my recipes.
- Toast your favorite low point whole wheat bread and while it is still warm, gently smush your everything bagel avocado spread across it with a fork. (3 points)
- Top with the slices of hard-boiled egg (you could also use tomato slices!) (2 points)
- Serve with fresh fruit and a cup of Dannon Light and Fit nonfat Greek yogurt. (2 Points)

Lunch
Lunches should be light yet filling, something that is easily prepared ahead of time. I really love this recipe for Chicken Fajita Lettuce Wraps. On the WW Green Plan, these wraps are 3 Points per Serving, so go ahead and have two or even three!

6 Points
Another fantastic choice would be Butternut Squash Spirals with a Lemon Sage Sauce which is only 4 Points. It's a filling dish that can be made quickly and is ultra delicious!
Snack Time
I know I tend to need something to snack on in the midafternoon. Slice up some fresh veggies with 2 tbsp of hummus (my favorite is Boar's Head traditional hummus) for a 3 Point snack. If you want to save your points, just stick to fruits and veggies.

Dinner
I love my recipe for Maple-Balsamic Pork Chops, which comes out to 7 points, regardless of which plan you choose! Serve it with fresh roasted vegetables for a well-rounded meal.

What if you really want Pizza? Well, how about Chicken Parmesan Pizza? It's less than 6 points per serving on the ww green plan, and totally delicious.
If you add it all up, you're at 23 points which still leaves room for…
Dessert
Do you have a sweet tooth? Why not finish your day with a sweet dessert bowl?
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Halo Top Birthday Cake Ice Cream (3 Points)
- 2 Tbsp Cool Whip (1 point)
- Mixture of sliced strawberries, blueberries and raspberries (0 Points)
- 1 tbsp Hershey's Lite Chocolate Syrup (1 Points)
5 Points
Finish Your Day on WW Green Plan at 28 Points, which will leave room for an extra snack if you're still hungry or roll it over for another day!
Check out these other dessert recipe ideas:
- Easy Cinnamon Rolls (2 points on all 3 plans)
- Dark Chocolate Banana Sheet Cake (Only 1 Point on all 3 plans)
- Apple Pie Bagels (4 points on Green, 3 points on Blue or Purple)
You can rollover up to 4 Smart Points on the WW Green Plan, just be sure to stay active, track your points and eat well. Together we can do this!!

What a valuable website! I love your information and your approach to managing with green. I am not diabetic, but your recipes are so healthy and yummy that I will be referring back to you regularly. I chose green because I need more accountability. In the first two weeks of green I have lost over 4 pounds and was really stuck on the freestyle plan previously. I think for me that portion size can creep up if you don't weigh and measure and count. So there you go. I am very happy on green!
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback!! If you have any recipes you would like to see lightened up, I'd be happy to take a look! I'm honored to have you as one of my readers.
I took an online quiz and I scored the green plan, so I want to give it a try.
You completed certain good points there. I did a search on the topic and found nearly all folks will have the same opinion with your blog.
Very good visual appeal on this site, I'd value it 10 10.
Just started the green plan and I found this post very helpful thank you! Just coming off a year from keto I have to completely retrain my brain on how to eat all foods in a healthy way.
I had a similar problem when I first started because of keto! It's rough, but totally doable. You got this!!
